Finally! As I mentioned a week ago, I've been absolutely dying to pay
East Terrace Continental a visit for about a year now! Thank goodness my girlfriends are into brunch as well, because without them, who knows when I would have had the chance to visit this glorious place?
This time, we made sure to make a reservation - we didn't want to have to learn our lesson the hard way a second time round. Boy, was it the right decision - the cafe was filled to the brink with enthusiastic diners, and we were placed in the upstairs location, on the balcony, where we were treated to the appealing scenery of Adelaide and its last day of the Fringe Festival. I asked Tina, who made the booking, if she could book at 11am, because that way we would be treated to the option of choosing from either the breakfast or lunch menus!
| Orange Juice - $4.80 |
To start the brunch, we each ordered a different drink. This orange juice was Tina's, who claimed it was truly freshly squeezed, and she quite enjoyed it.
| Hot Chocolate - $3.30 |
| Banana, Apple & Guava Smoothie - $6.50 |
Tina had been raving about how great the smoothies are here, so I felt it was a MUST to order the smoothie. It was the guava in the smoothie name that attracted my attention. It displeases me to have to report that I felt this smoothie was ordinary - something I could quickly whip up in my own blended. Perhaps the taste of the wonderful fruit, the guava, was not as empowering as I hoped it would be.
| White Coffee - $3.30 |
Then came the highly anticipated meals.
| Roast Pumpkin Baguette - $8.90 |
Lasni had this baguette, filled with "roast pumpkin, roast zucchini, roast capsicum, basil pesto & baby spinach". I have no idea how it tasted, but Lasni appeared contented with her baguette, and geez - does it look mouthwatering or what?
| ETC Chill Bar - $13.80 |
Shivani opted for the ETC Chill Bar, which was a "traditional Turkish breakfast of poached eggs atop warmed garlic yoghurt, drizzled with paprika butter, served with sautéed muchrooms and warm Turkish bread".
| ETC Steak Burger - $13.50 |
Shamalka chose the ETC Steak Burger, which had "grilled Scotch fillet, olive tapenade, char grilled eggplant, Swiss cheese, lettuce, roasted capsicum, egg & sweet chili sauce".
| ETC Chicken Burger - $13.50 |
This aesthetically pleasing burger was the pick for two of the girls, Aarushi and Cham. Layered with "marinated chicken breast, crispy bacon, Swiss cheese, egg, Spanish onion, fresh tomato, lettuce & ETC aioli", the description of the burger was enough to send me into a frenzy when I was choosing between my final order and this burger. It didn't help that the presentation made me salivate with envy! Definitely looking forward to having this ETC Chicken Burger next time!
| Bacon & Eggs (fried) - $11.80, Chorizo Sausage - $3.80 |
Tina's Bacon & Eggs (she chose to have them fried) came with tomatoes and was served on toast. She also had a side serve of Chorizo sausages, which she was either too full to finish or didn't appreciate how they tasted, but she left them on the plate.
| Berry Pancakes - $13.80 |
This splendid dish here was my pick for brunch. Having read recommendations on it by one of the other food blogs, I had already made up my mind to have this even before setting foot in ETC. The three wonderfully fluffy pancakes, were layered on top of one another, and covered in berry coulis. Sandwiched in between them were surprises of berries, which made every bite on the fork even more pleasing! When it was first placed in front of me, I jokingly commented to the girls that my pancake was "bleeding berry sauce!". I expected the sauce to overwhelm my pancakes with too much sweetness, but surprisingly, when I was finished, the plate was cleared of all traces of food. It was THAT good!
Honestly can't wait to return again! ETC may well turn into my go-to cafe for brunch!

Bleeding berry sauce hehehe. I probably tasted even better than it looks. This diner seems really chill and casual! Nice!
