About Me

My Photo
Hi, I'm Vivian and I'm a uni student obsessed with fitness and food (I know, it doesn't exactly go hand-in-hand). I'll have my "no eating out" times and my "I deserve to try new food" moments. I'm on a mission to try new places, mainly around the Adelaide CBD, on a student budget. Rarely you'll be seeing expensive, fine dining on my blog, but that's an occasional thing. I have a lot of posts on Sydney restaurants too, because that's where I spend all my holidays. Read on for my pictures and opinions on the food Adelaide has to offer! Got something on your mind? Cafe Luna Rosso

It's my housemate's birthday today, so we started the morning off by treating her to brunch, something that I've never actually experienced before.

Strolling around Hyde Park, we stopped at a cafe which grabbed our attention due to their pleasant internal decor.

Two of the girls, Shannon (the birthday girl) and Sureka, started off with a hot chocolate each, which they claimed was not impressive.

Hot Chocolate - $3.50

I've always heard so many people rave about how amazing egg benedict is to have as a breakfast/brunch item, so I decided as my first ever brunch, it was definitely what I was to order! I opted for the Salmon Benedict, which consisted of "poached eggs, spinach on an English muffin with hollandaise sauce with a side of smoked salmon", especially since I love fish with a passion (I'm pretty sure it's the only meat I've been eating for the last five weeks...). What a great choice that was, because I enjoyed every bite of it, and I especially loved the generous amount of smoked salmon they gave on the dish! I was told that the egg benedict here isn't as great as it is at other places, but who am I to know when this is the first time I've tried it. I must agree though, that the hollandaise sauce, which I've heard should be really tasty, didn't make much of an impact on me. Oh well, I guess that just means I'll have to try more places for brunch to get the true experience!

Salmon Benedict - $16.50
Sureka ordered the Eggs Benedict, which is basically the same as mine, except instead of the smoked salmon, there was bacon instead. I'm glad I got the Salmon Benedict because I don't like bacon very much (I haven't eaten it in three years now).

Eggs Benedict - $14.50
Shannon and Ramiya chose to have The Works, which consisted of "bacon, tomato, mushroom, eggs (poached, fried or scrambled), sausage & hash brown". One of the girls chose for the eggs to be poached while the other chose for it to be scrambled.

The Works (eggs - poached) - $16.50
Although the girls didn't have anything negative to say about The Works, they also didn't have any positive feedback either. All they said was that it was "too much", and left with food remaining on their plate.

The Works (eggs - scrambled) - $16.50
Overall, it was a nice experience to have brunch with this lovely girls, however I wouldn't necessarily come sprinting back to Cafe Luna Rosso again anytime soon. It was average, and there's many more much tastier places to try to brunch, I'm sure.
