About Me

My Photo
Hi, I'm Vivian and I'm a uni student obsessed with fitness and food (I know, it doesn't exactly go hand-in-hand). I'll have my "no eating out" times and my "I deserve to try new food" moments. I'm on a mission to try new places, mainly around the Adelaide CBD, on a student budget. Rarely you'll be seeing expensive, fine dining on my blog, but that's an occasional thing. I have a lot of posts on Sydney restaurants too, because that's where I spend all my holidays. Read on for my pictures and opinions on the food Adelaide has to offer! Got something on your mind? Bracegirdles

Sometimes when you study for too long, you need a change in environment. I'm a massive lover of hot temperatures, so I wasn't overly pleased that the temperature outside was warmer than my apartment. Raoul and I decided to go to Glenelg to get some studying done whilst (safely) baking in the sun. (Yes you read right - we went to the beach... to study. Couldn't get anymore nerdier than that now, can we?)

So how did we end up at Bracegirdles? Well after focusing on our anatomy notes for so long, we decided to go for a stroll down Jetty Road. I am a huge sucker for all things chocolate, and Raoul knew that well. Walking towards Bracegirdles, I couldn't help but stop and stare (oh no, the song is playing in my head now) at the menu outside the quaint cafe. We decided that this was to be our stop.

 Iced Chocolate - $7

Raoul ordered the Iced Chocolate, which is "made with liquid Belgian chocolate, milk & vanilla ice cream", and let me try some. It was pretty satisfactory! I deliberately chose to describe it as"satisfactory" because although there was nothing wrong with it (it had a lovely texture, a pleasant flavour hit, was good value for money), it would not be able to compare with Chocolate Bean's cheap, generous and overly fantastic Chocolate Icy.

Pure Indulgence - $12.90

I personally chose to have the Pure Indulgence, which is "A true Belgian sugar waffle served with fresh strawberries, liquid Belgian Chocolate & icecream". Does it sound and LOOK mouthwatering or what? Well I'm thrilled to be able to share even better news - it TASTED even better! It was such a great quality waffle - it was soft, with a tinge of crunchiness on the outside. I devoured every bite with immense delight! I know it's not one of the cheaper choices on the menu, but it's worth at least one try.

Peanut Butter Frappe - $7.90 [Note: I had this at Bracegirdles in Toorak Gardens, not Glenelg]

This Peanut Butter Frappe, which consists of "liquid Belgian chocolate, crunchy peanut butter, milk & crushed ice with extra added chocolate" is an item I had on a previous occasion, before I took up this hobby of food-blogging. I've always been one to take out the camera and snap photos of food when I go out, so I luckily had this photo to post here for you. I remember it being quite icy (as in there was more ice bits in the drink than necessary), and the peanut butter hit wasn't as strong as I would have desired it to be. It was not terrible, but I'm not ordering it again.
