About Me

My Photo
Hi, I'm Vivian and I'm a uni student obsessed with fitness and food (I know, it doesn't exactly go hand-in-hand). I'll have my "no eating out" times and my "I deserve to try new food" moments. I'm on a mission to try new places, mainly around the Adelaide CBD, on a student budget. Rarely you'll be seeing expensive, fine dining on my blog, but that's an occasional thing. I have a lot of posts on Sydney restaurants too, because that's where I spend all my holidays. Read on for my pictures and opinions on the food Adelaide has to offer! Got something on your mind? Pira Thai Cuisine

What's better than going on a food date with one of your closest friends and trying out new places? NOTHING!

I read up on Pira Thai Cuisine from a number of other food blogs and they recommended the Larb Pla Barramundi which would have been the "de-bone fresh barramundi fried until crispy, topped with spring onion, coriander, red onion, ground rice and spicy lime juice", and I thought for $18.80 it didn't seem too bad and considering it was fish (which I LOVE with a passion), that's the best I could get.

Upon opening up the menu, I found that my dreams had been crushed - they had pushed up the price. I knew it was too good to be true! Oh well, we were there already, so Raoul and I ordered something else that was highly recommended - the Garlic and Pepper Pork which was "marinated loin pork sliced and pan fried with pepper and crispy garlic flakes and chilli" as well as the good ol' Pad Thai.

We opted to share all the foods tonight, and my - what a great decision that was as we were able to experience the best of both worlds.

The Pad Thai came out first, which was wonderful as we could devour that first instead of wondering which of the two meals to eat (yes, eating can get confusing... or maybe I'm just silly when it comes to good food). It was pleasant and I enjoyed it, but I must say it wasn't spectacular or anything. The best Pad Thai I've eaten comes from Rundle Spices. If you choose to dine here, I would advise you to try something other than the ordinary Pad Thai.
 Pad Thai - $11.80

I wouldn't say the service was the best tonight. I'm not sure if it is normally like this, but we were made to wait quite a while before the Pad Thai even came out. Luckily Raoul and I weren't starving to the point of death, and we had so much to talk about that time almost passed without us noticing. After we had polished off the Pad Thai, the Garlic and Pepper Pork was eventually presented to us.
Garlic and Pepper Pork - $15.80

You know what? After tasting the very first bite of the Garlic and Pepper Pork, it didn't matter to us at all that we had to wait so long (probably half an hour), because that dish was like the heavens just presented us with food usually saved just for the gods. Yes - I'm not even exaggerating, that's just how amazing it was! We walked out of the restaurant with wide smiles spread across our faces and I actually remember commenting to Raoul as we walked out the door, "I love walking away from restaurants so satisfied with what I just ate!".
